Our ClassroomDaily Schedule2020-2021
TBD Behavior Policy-CLIP CHART- In our classroom we use a clip chart. Every students starts on “Ready to Learn” each day. Depending on their choices they can either move up to “Good Work” or down to “slow down”, “Think about it” and “Oh no! Stop!”
-Students on Ready to Learn/Good Work will receive Chance tickets. -Slow down is just a reminder to check your actions and fix it. This is also when they go over to our slow down cool down bucket. They take a minute to do some calming activities then fill out a reflection to return calmly. -Think about it is after they have done a cool down and are still making bad choices. This is when a “think about it” note goes home to a parent to read over and sign and send back the next day. -Oh No! Stop! Is when the student has a referral, parent contact and/or spent time in the office. -Chance Tickets are small tickets Mrs. Dykman gives out for great work, great participation and great choices! These are given randomly throughout the day and in the morning the next day if they stayed on ready to learn or good work on the clip chart. -Once a month all the chance tickets go into a bucket and a few “winners” are drawn. Your “chances” are higher the better the student you are! They can win prizes or pick rewards (wear a hat to school, chew gum, etc.) -The whole school also follows STARR behavior policy and earns STARR tickets and STARR parties. We have 5 starr parties a year (One at the end of each quarter with no referral given that quarter. As well as one large one at the end of the year for NO referrals). STARR tickets are given be any teacher in the building for being Safe, Thoughtful, Attentive, Respectful, Responsible. Every 10 tickets they earn a prize from the office. Homework/Grading Scale Homework:
-Students are also required to be reading at least twenty minutes a night. By the end of the year, students should be able to read for sixty minutes straight. The Fourth Grade Grading Scale is as follows: We use a scale of 1-4 for grades. 1 is considered an A (90-100%) 2 is considered a B (80-89%) 3 is considered a C (70-79%) 4 is considered a D (69 and below) Birthdays/Snacks/Water BottlesBirthdays
Students are encouraged to celebrate birthdays. Feel free to send in a birthday treat on that special day. If birthdays fall on the weekend, treats may be sent on Friday or Monday. We do have summer birthdays this year. Therefore, if your child’s birthday falls during the summer, he or she is more than welcome to provide a treat for the class, please just let me know what day you would like to bring in a treat. Water Bottles Students may bring a water bottle to class every day. Water bottles will need to be brought home on a daily basis to be washed. To save our janitors some stress I ask that it only be water. No juices, pop, powder packets, etc. It is important that your child has a proper breakfast and snack in order to stay energized for the school day. |
